Solar Irrigation Pumping System

Traditionally, our agricultural sector depends on rain water for irrigation. The introduction of mechanized irrigation in the early seventies increased agricultural productivity to meet the demand of the growing population and hence irrigation pumps are considered as a major intervention in ensuring food security. Nonetheless, electrification is still a challenge that propelled a majority of irrigation pumps to be diesel-driven. It seems that the problem has been solved for the time being. However, on the flipside increased use of diesel in irrigation pumps contributes to increased carbon emission and import of quaintly, from this perspective Sherpa Power Engineering has taken program in 2009 to introduce Solar Irrigation Pump Technology replacing diesel pumps that contribute both to food security as an adaptive action and reducing carbon emission.
